Top Jobs That Require Travel

There are a great number of pros and cons attached to jobs that require you to travel. The greatest one being that it drains you of all your energies at a faster level. Jobs that involve international travel especially can affect your energy levels because your body will constantly fight to adapt to various time zones and day differences not to mention food and culture.

In theory, every job requires you to travel to some extent but there are few jobs wherein travel is an accepted part of the work.

Here below are some jobs that require travel:

Reporter / Journalist

A reporter / journalist is expected to be at the place of the incident and therefore is expected to be on the move practically all the time. Furthermore, reporters are expected to work at any time of the day or night depending on the news creating situation that’s going on in their city / country. The job, although tedious can be very rewarding too because there are a lot of public accolades attached to the job of a media person.

Senior Marketing / Sales Executives

Many companies require that their senior marketing and sales executives travel across the country or sometimes even internationally so that they can promote the company’s business and products / services across more people.

Business Development personnel

Business development personnel are required to get new business and sales for the company and this is why they are expected to travel to places far and wide to meet potential target audiences and turn them into actual clients. They are constantly on the move with their hopes to bring in more business because finally their incomes and commissions are based on the quantum of the business they bring in.

People in mid to higher management positions

People specific to industries like Finance, Banking, Retail, basically anything to do with the corporate sector in positions ranging from mid to higher management categories are always on the move, again this is because they have many client meetings across nations, their own country and also need to meet key potential clients. This category of the work force is usually very highly qualified too.

Medical Representatives

Medical representatives have to market and sell new medical equipments and products to medical practitioners from across the country and sometimes even internationally. This job requires a huge amount of commitment and knowledge because when you are expected to talk to qualified doctors, you will have to know what you are talking about and selling.

Recruiters

They don't only choose your technical engineer resume from a huge amount another candidates. Recruitment executives get to and have to travel a lot due to work. This is because they need to sometimes look for and meet with potential candidates who could be the ideal match for a client’s job vacancy. In addition to this, they need to meet candidates face to face and sometimes have to spend time convincing them that changing their present job is a good thing. Although stressful at times (a lot of their income and bonus is based on how often they were able to fill in a client’s / company’s vacancy) it can be exciting too one gets to meet new people all the time. 

Air Hostess / Steward / Pilot

People employed as flight attendants (air host / hostess) and pilots have to travel for work, it’s a number one pre-condition! That’s because their job involves getting people to their choice of destination and so they themselves need to travel around too. These personnel are specially trained to travel and host travelers so that they can have a good journey.

Tour Guides

Sometimes tour guides if not local are employed to travel across various places to show customers the beauty of certain key attractions. Tour guides have to know a place well enough to tell people all about its history, its past, its present etc. Many tour guides who work with international tour companies travel a lot for work.

Diplomats / Consulate Staff

Consulate Generals, Diplomats etc are expected to travel for work because they have to constantly move between their place of work in a foreign land and their home country. This is to generate meetings, seminars, better country relations etc.
