Platform as a Service (PaaS)

James Collion840 25-May-2019

Platform as a Service, (PaaS) is an extremely modifiable environment developed formally introduced in Pakistan by a major software company in Lahore to cater to the utilization of state of the art development tools and apps. Through this environment, the customer or the client is allowed to deploy their product or service over this infrastructure provided the correct and accept programming criteria set by an associated software house in Lahore is fulfilled. On this cloud computing environment, although the customer or the client does not have access to the source codes for propriety tools and features such as cloud servers and cloud operating system, he has however complete access to the regulatory apparatus to enhance the product or the service further.

Platform as a Service (PaaS)

Software as a Service (SaaS)

Software as a service (SaaS) on the other hand is a software distribution model which can be used by third party regulators to hosts applications over the internet without being in direct contact with any specific firm or a company for exclusive content endorsement. SaaS removes the need for organizations to install and run applications on their systems which in turn dramatically decreases the infrastructure development costs and maintenance responsibilities.

Critical differences between (PaaS) and (SaaS)

SaaS or Software as a Service is a medium or a type of cloud computing fraternity that completely transfers the responsibility of management and deployment of software to third-party service providers who have significant experience to do the standard task as efficiently as possible successfully. The most notable examples of SaaS are customer relationships management models such as Salesforce, software utilities such as Google Apps and cloud storage solutions such as Dropbox.

PaaS, on the other hand, provides a platform and groundwork for parts of the SaaS to operate at their full capacity. This platform offers its users an experience where complexities such as server software and hardware and network infrastructure are taken care of by the concerned software house in Lahore leaving the focus of business scalability at the customer’s disposal.

Challenges while adopting cloud computing business model

Despite being heavily deployed to revolutionize and rejuvenate business models, the cloud computing technology is still in its infancy, and there is still significant development to be done by the software company in Lahore that yields to its ever-evolving and adaptive nature. Like any new leap in the incredibly complex spheres of technological advancements, although cloud computing addresses and minimizes risks and factors that make it the need of the hour, two of which were described in detail in the previous section of the report, there are still significant challenges that keep on emerging. No matter in what operational capacity IT firms base their functional tendencies, be it internal or cloud, constant security threats that signal towards the jeopardizing of sensitive information and details remain the underlying problem that has been highlighted again and again. These security threats, when materialize can be a cause of grave concern as they threaten the integrity of the business or the company that is affected by them tarnishing their reputation possibly forever.
