Standard Punches Varieties And Its Functionality

Punches have been in use from a decade, this one of the oldest tools ever used. Earlier this tool is used to carving wood, preparing and fabricating clothes and forming stones. Today these are used to remove pins, bushing and to cut steel objects. Hand tool punches India are indentation tools if a hammer strikes on the blunt head of the shaft, the opposite end of the tool creates an indented mark on metal. India is famous for its hand printing technique so this is the tools of India and for India. There are classified into the hollow or solid punch.

1. Hollow punches: these are specially designed to puncture any steel metal or leather to create a hole. A hollow punch could easily be identified by its exit hole which is located near the working end. The exit hole allows the punched material to get out. The shape of a working end could vary depending upon the breach required and the content being pierced.

2. Solid punches: it has a variety of diameter, length and tip depending upon the job to be performed. Some of the conventional solid punches are:

a. Pin punches: mostly used to remove or drive pins, it features a long head having the same diameter as the tip and generally meant for removing solid pins and tension. Be careful while selecting a pin punch.

b. Pilot punches: known as roll pin punch, designed to remove and drive hollow tension pins such as tapered and rolled or solid pins. Also having a long head but have a slight bump at a tip makes it different from pin punch.

c. Taper punch: designed for loosening and driving pins. It is used to align existing holes in two or more pieces just before the bolting or riveting.

d. Center punch: the shape of the center punch is same as ball pen and made up of cast steel, the tip of the punch and conical shape like a pen while the handle is knurled that provide the grip during usage. The primary function of the center punch is small points acted as a marker during drilling activity. When struck to do a slight indentation on the metal piece which allows the drill to pierce the metal easily.

e. Prick punches virtually the same as the center punch, but it is designed to use on soft materials such as wood, thin sheets, and plastic. Also used to scribe marking lines before any cutting.

f. Drift punch: this is also known as anti-drift tool, but a member of punch family designed to align fastener holes. Due to having a tapered profile, gentle hammering this punch into holes until they are adequately aligned.

g. Aligning punch: as per name used to align two or more holes to fastener the insertion process. This punch is not meant for driving pins, rivets or bolts as this does not strike.

There are number punches supplier in India providing good quality tool made up of hard metal that allow good pressure and increase productivity.
