The computer-based exam is the most habitually used GRE test format. Still, the offline format is also available in exam centres where there is no facility for computers. The overall length of the exam is three hours and forty minutes, and there are six segments, and after the third section of the review, a 10-minute halt will be given.

The GRE General test assesses the verbal, numerical, rational thinking and writing abilities of an applicant, which are tested using three units: Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning, and Logical Writing. Practice is an infinite task and cannot be equalled with another substitute method. Candidates should systematically prepare for the GRE test following the pattern, syllabus and format. Since the GRE test does not deduct marks for incorrect answers, candidates should not devote time finding solutions that are tough to crack. The aspirants should preferably mark them for later evaluation. Timing is more significant than solving every single question. A calculator can be obliging for some GRE numerical questions, but it is advisable to save time by doing the mental calculations, and do not practice with a calculator as support.
