Robert Hall588 27-Jan-2020

Time to plan your vacation in 2020! Many of us are travel-loving people, and until 2019, our traveling rates were increasing steadily. However, not all types of trips are relevant. Hiking, cruise, round-the-world, and safari trips are more popular than ever.

Everything about travel was gathered in a list of 8 destinations — one for each month from January to August — that feel extra hot in 2020. Whether you want to go on a train holiday, have a charter flight, or plan your own vacation with flights, hotels, and attractions and discover new exciting destinations for a weekend — here are the best trips of 2020.

January: PHU QUOC, VIETNAM.

Best time: December–February

Discover the paradise island of Phu Quoc. Vietnam is now the second country in Asia after Thailand that many people prefer to travel to, according to Ticket Agency's annual travel habits report.

The island is large as half of Öland (Swedish island) and bordered by white sandy beaches, which are divided by cliffs. Long Beach on the eastern side of Phu Quoc (whose northern end faces the capital Duong Dong), is the obvious place for your vacation. Bai Sao is the most famous beach and is located on the southern part of the island.

What to do: When you get tired of sunbathing and swimming, you can go for a cooking class, rent a scooter, go to the night market in Duong Dong, or kayak.

Experience the fishing village of Ham Ninh that is about 20 minutes from Phu Quoc Airport. It is full of colorful boats and unique dishes like sea cucumber soup and various pharmaceutical drinks made on seaweed, ginseng, and rice wine.

Don't miss: Phu Quoc National Park, where you can see exotic plants and animals such as crabs, silver monkeys, and rhino birds.

February: HOKKAIDO, JAPAN.

Best time: December–March

Powder snow, hot baths in volcanic springs, and a large selection of spas and après-ski attract more and more ski enthusiasts to Japan and one of the more than 500 resorts to choose from.

The North Island of Hokkaido is perhaps best known for Sapporo, the city that arranged the Winter Olympics and the World Cross-country Championships. The ski area itself consists of five resorts, of which the three most significant are Hirafu, Higashiyama, and Niseko Annupuri. These are close to each other and are linked just below the top of Mount Annupuri, which means that large areas can be reached with the systems of 38 lifts.

What to do: In addition to skiing and snowboarding, many hotels have spa areas to relax in.

Don't miss: The ice blocks that sparkle and shine like giant jewels when the mouth of the Tokachi River freezes again. As a result, a lot of ice blocks are broken up and then flow ashore along the Hokkaido coast. The ice blocks attract thousands of spectators.

March: SAARISELKÄ, FINLAND

Best time: September and March

Northern lights dancing across the sky is a unique natural phenomenon. Finland is one of the world's best places to witness northern lights, and people have even moved here just to see it.

At the Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort in the village of Saariselkä in Finnish Lapland, you can watch the northern light straight through the roof from its private glassy glaze 25 miles north of the Arctic Circle. The family-owned company has built a village of 16 igloos, where you can sleep in small domes made of glass that are safe being covered by frost.

If you don't want to stay here, there are plenty of other (cheaper) alternatives like Santa's Hotel Tunturi in Saariselkä. It is located near the ski slopes Kaunispää and Iisakkipää.

Things to do: Go on safaris or a ride in the snow, rent a pair of snowshoes and explore the nearby Urho National Park.

Don't miss: A trip on an icebreaker with a voluntary dip in the icy Baltic Sea — wearing a dry suit, of course.

April: ISTANBUL, TURKEY

Best time: Spring and autumn

Travel bookings to Turkey have increased by over 88 percent compared to last year. The capital of Istanbul is one of the favorite destinations for people from different corners of the world.

Drink afternoon tea in the fancy tea lounge at Pera Palace, the hotel that opened in 1892 to accommodate passengers from the Orient Express. You can settle down and feel the wings of history. If you want to rest at the hotel and devote some time to preparing your assignment for college with an-essay, you may stay in the Mata Hari's, Agatha Christie's, or the Greta Garbo's room!

Don't miss: A drink or dinner at the award-winning rooftop bar and restaurant Mikla, at the top of the Marmara Pera hotel.

Georgia's capital Tbilisi is now a trendy weekend destination and has been named the world's third best destination to visit, according to the National Geographic magazine. Here are winding streets with colorful wooden houses, lots of restaurants, cafes and shops.
