Vertu is a high-end mobile phone brand under Nokia (hereinafter referred to as “Vertu” for brand name and “VERTU” for services and terminals). Established in 1998, the first issue was announced in 2002. Currently, there are three series of “Signature”, “Ascent” and “Constellation”, which are sold in more than 600 luxury watch stores, jewelry stores, department stores and VERTU boutiques in 50 countries around the world.

　And Vertu decided to enter Japan. On February 19, 2009, we opened the “ Vertu Ginza Flagship Store ” and started selling VERTU terminals. In May, we plan to launch a VERTU Club, a membership service limited to Japan , and users can use services such as concierge.

　Looking at the vertu phone price in india, it seems that the VERTU terminal is more appropriate to call it a “luxury accessory” than a “mobile phone”. Where is the reason why the price is literally in comparison with a general mobile phone? And how much is it built as a mobile phone? Now that I have the opportunity to interview the Vertu Ginza Flagship Store, I will report the details of the VERTU terminal, which I usually rarely see.

One craftsman makes the whole process-"Signature"

　Among the VERTU models, the signature called “face” is a great work that Vertu has commercialized over 10 years. It should be noted that the signature is manufactured by one dedicated craftsman called “Master Craftsman” by hand. In addition, the number of parts used is 263, which is six to seven times that of a typical mobile phone. There are only six dedicated craftsmen in the world, and the producer's signature is engraved inside the battery cover.

　By the way, Ascent Tea Eye is also handmade, but not one craftsman is in charge of the whole process like the signature. Among the VERTU terminals that take a different approach from the mainstream mobile phones, the signature is the “ultimate handmade terminal”.

　“Signature” means a signature in Japanese, but it also includes the meaning of “important”. Mobile phones are closely related to everyday life as the owner's “alternate”. “The vertu signature touch is not only about the gorgeous appearance, but also how we can express customer values,” says Ban.

　The surface of the signature (display side) is covered with sapphire crystal that has been refined in a blast furnace at 2000 ° C for over 2 weeks. “It is also used in Swiss luxury watches, and was developed specifically by Vertu. The sapphire crystal has the advantage of being highly durable as well as increasing its aesthetic value.” Mr. Ban explains. It is said that the durability is not damaged even if the display is scratched with a car key.

　The back is made of leather from Northern Europe. According to Mr. Ban, it is a special material used in leather seats in luxury sports cars and is very durable. In addition, gold (18 gold) and platinum are used for the metal part, and there is a certification stamp of Swiss assay office, an international organization that guarantees the quality of precious metals. “VERTU is the first to obtain this certification for electronic devices,” says Ban.

　The dial key pursued "perfect click", and a 4.75 carat ruby ​​bearing was fitted inside each key. When I actually pressed the key, I was able to confirm a unique click feeling of “click” that was different from previous mobile phones. “Sports car and luxury car engineers are also particular about the sound of closing the door. The idea is the same as using a ruby,” says Ban. The dial key was patented and took more than two years to develop.

　The melody for ringtones and alerts uses original works composed by the award-winning composer, Dario Marianelli. In addition, we recorded what the London Symphony Orchestra performed.

　The signature does not have a camera. “People who do not need a (mobile) camera in their daily lives are the main target.”
