The first and the most common reason for shoulder pain is a rotator cuff injury. According to the latest statistics, almost two million adults in the United States have this problem. You don’t have to be an athlete since rotator-cuff injury can strike anyone.  

Shoulder pain can be a sign of heart problems as well. So, if you feel pain in the jaw, neck, arms, consider taking medical tests for heart disease. According to experts, women are more likely to feel heavy shoulder pain before a heart attack. 

Every physically-demanding job can lead to shoulder pain, especially in older people.  

If you feel numbness in hands, arms, and shoulders, it might also be a pinched nerve. It usually goes away after two weeks. However, you might need to try icing, physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, and taking painkillers.
