Before getting started with the process, make sure to keep the following points in mind:
    The computer must be connected to the router.
    A stable connection should be there to prevent update failures. If you use an uninterrupted, unstable internet connection while updating the firmware, it may cause permanent damage to the router.
    Ensure to back up the settings of your router.
Important Note: In order to back up the router’s settings, go to the default web-based address using Belkin range extender IP address.
Once you are done with the aforesaid things, let’s get started with the firmware update process for Belkin router.
In order to manually update the Belkin router’s firmware, follow the instructions mentioned below:
1.    Check the model and version number of your router
First and foremost, you have to check the version and model number of your router. This can be found on the label at the back or bottom panel of your device. Usually, the version number starts from ver or v. In case the router has no version number, it means it is a version 1 model.
The serial number, model number as well as the version number is defined on a sticker. And this sticker is located somewhere on the body of the router. If the sticker is lost or misplaced, you can take help from our experts to find the model number of your router. Just dial our toll-free number 1-844-991-0441.
2.    Download the Firmware
Prior to upgrading the Belkin router’s firmware, you have to download and save the updated firmware file on your computer. In order to download the firmware file, navigate to Belkin setup page and search for the latest firmware update available for the particular version you are using.
If there is any new update available, download that right away and save the file on your desktop. You can see the download status on the progress bar shown on the desktop. As soon as the downloading completes, proceed with the update process for your Belkin device.
3.    Perform the Firmware Update
There are two main methods to get the job done: automatically and manually. The first method can be completed through belkin.range setup page. On the other hand, the second method allows you to manually update the firmware version. Both of the methods are discussed below:
Automatically Updating the Firmware
In case the Belkin router extender setup page or dashboard includes an option to check for updates automatically, just click on that button. Once done, your device will automatically update the firmware whenever the new version will available.
Manually Updating the Firmware
If you don’t want your router firmware to be automatically updated, go through the steps listed underneath:
Step-1: Be sure that the router is getting proper power supply from a reliable wall socket.
Step-2: Power on a computer or laptop as per your convenience.
Step-3: Connect it to a high-speed internet connection or belkin.setup network.
Step-4: Launch an internet browser of your choice by double-clicking on it.
Step-5: Head over to the default web-based address of your router.
Step-6: Log in to your account by entering the correct user ID and password.
Step-7: Click on firmware update option.
Step-8: Upload the file you saved previously.
Step-9: Click on ok button to continue.
Step-10: Finish the update process by clicking on the given button on arising prompt.
Keep checking the firmware update status displayed on the desktop screen. Once the update process completes, wait for a few seconds and reboot the router.
