Being a freelancer is not an easy job and personality types play an important role in your success. It is an ongoing argument about which personality type is best for getting success as a freelancer! This argument is due to the rising popularity of the freelancer as a career option. It is important to understand the prospective characteristics of extroverts as well as introverts to find an answer to this argument. The introversion is a personality trait which focuses more on internal emotions of a person. The introverts are calm and they do not like to speak much. They like to process the given information before actually speaking. If you are more talkative, sociable, outgoing, enthusiastic and action-oriented, then you are definitely an extrovert. The mental process of the extroverts tends to be loud and they like to share their ideas with others. They also make good conversations with other people and they rarely keep quiet. There are individuals who display more characteristics of introverts and vice-versa. However, there are other persons who display moderate mix of both the personalities. Now, which personality is better suited for freelancing?
You would be surprised to learn that introverts are more suitable to the freelancing profession than their extroverts’ counterparts. The freelancer profession makes you to wear several hats at the same time and you may think that the extroverts would be better at doing so. But, this is actually not the case. There are several reasons why introverts rock at the task of being a freelancer-
    Great leadership capabilities
Whoa, yes! The introverts do ponder on their thoughts before their action. They are silent communicators and hence they have a wide variety of ideas in their mind regarding how to find work or how to build good relationships with the prospective clients. They also have the capability of maintaining good relationships with the multiple clients, which help them to make good brand image of themselves.

    Good listening skills
Introverts do not blurt out words all the time and they pay more attention to what the other person is saying. This makes them to pick up social cues easily and they are more efficient in managing their relationships with their clients. The extroverts would be unwilling to listen to their clients and instead do the talking. This would make the client unhappy as the extroverts would not be eager to listen. On the other hand, the introverts would listen carefully to the instructions of the client and do the work accordingly.

    Excellent communicators
Being an introvert doesn’t mean that your communication skill is lacking. Yes, they are not the talkative people but they can communicate the points well to the clients. They are capable of asking the right questions at the right point of time. They are also able to better understand the client needs and their goals. This makes them to complete the work based on the exact requirements of the client. The extroverts feel more inclined to speaking and they do not think before speaking. This makes them less successful in the freelancing business.

    Great negotiation skills
The introverts are good at impressing clients and it is important in freelancing. In freelancing, you need to have good rapport with clients and also negotiate about the rates. It is important for the freelancers to negotiate about the rates and introverts know the tactics of adjusting the rates. They are also quite flexible and know how much they can negotiate in order to get good grades.

    Crave solitude
If you are an introvert, you must be aware of the fact that you long for silent places and quiet corners of the houses. This makes you one of the most favorable candidates for freelancing, since you need to work alone in this kind of profession. An introvert would like to work in silent work environment in which there is less number of distractions. This is exactly what the work environment of a freelancer is. The extroverts would be having a tough time working alone as they need companions to do their chirpings. On the other hand, research shows that the work environment of freelancing is most suitable for introverts who are essentially self-motivated individuals capable of working in a closed work environment.

    Appreciable Social media skills
Introverts do not like to have face-to-face communication with others, but they like to be active on the social media websites. This is the basic requirement of freelancing, where it is important to market the skills in a social media platform and gain visibility. Social media are an excellent platform to post samples of work and the introvert personality is quite adept in doing so. The extroverts may not like to do this activity since they would feel bore after a certain point of time. There are a number of social media platforms where the freelancers can showcase their work which would help them to get more number of future works.
    Self-focus is constant
Freelancers need to oil their own machine and they need to constantly enhance their skills. This can be best done by an introvert freelancer who would be more than happy to update their skills from time to time.
The concluding thoughts about the argument are that there are several persons who contain traces of both introverts as well as extrovert’s characteristics. They can be better at managing their freelancing job options and they would definitely prosper in this field.
