• Instagram users filed 2,368 complaints with Meta under the IT Rules.
• Instagram complaints about hijacked accounts were the most common.

In November, more than 2.29 crore pieces of information posted by Indian users on Facebook and Instagram were subject to action, according to the India Monthly Report that social media behemoth Meta released on Thursday.

 The business intervened on more than 1.95 billion pieces of content on Facebook and 33.9 lakh pieces of content on Instagram, according to the statistics in the report. On Facebook alone, the corporation removed almost 1.49 crore instances of spam content, followed by 18 lakh items relating to 'Adult Nudity and Sexual Activity,' and 12 lakh items relating to 'Violent and Graphic Content.'

 On Instagram, Meta removed 10 lakh pieces of content relating to self-harm and suicide, 7.27 lakh posts relating to violent content. In accordance with the IT Rules of 2021, Meta received 2,368 complaints from Instagram users, with the most common being a hacking (939 complaints), followed by fake profiles (891 complaints), bullying or harassment (136 complaints), content depicting the user in nudity or partial nudity or in a sexual act (94), etc.

 31 complaints of bullying or harassment, 253 reports of account hacking, 555 reports of fake profiles, 30 reports of content depicting users in nudity or partial nudity or performing a sexual act were all addressed by the company.

 The social media platform received 889 complaints on Facebook, and in 511 of those instances, it provided users with the tools they needed to resolve the issues, as per the IT Rules of 2021. According to the survey, issues with lost access to pages they maintained, bullying or harassment, and content depicting persons in nudity or partial nudity or performing a sexual act were the top concerns raised by Facebook users regarding their accounts being hacked. The business fixed every problem when users couldn't access pages.
