# The Earth has a new eye: NASA’s Landsat- 9

Stretching the time to 50 years back, the Landsat satellite is a part of the same series where the space-giant, [NASA](https://www.nasa.gov/)is launching [satellites](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2194/on-october-20-watch-as-spacex-launches-54-starlink-satellites-and-lands-a-rocket) into Earth’s orbit for various reasons. The satellite was sent upwards in the sky on an Atlas rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base at 11:12 local time. It is remarkable in its mission because no other remote-sensing system has kept such a continuous record of the changing state of our planet.

An interesting fact about the Landsat is that it is made to discover the Earth’s features as acute as 30m. Now, the new Landsat is being developed to give an even minimalistic view. The clearer the images available to the scientists, the better would be earth’s research.
