# WhatsApp Rolls Out Meta AI-Powered Summaries to Help Users Catch Up on Unread Messages

[Meta](https://www.mindstick.com/news/4301/meta-ai-introduces-new-memory-feature-and-personalized-recommendations) is developing a new [functionality](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/136/using-watermark-functionality-in-textbox-by-jquery) in [WhatsApp](https://www.mindstick.com/news/4349/whatsapp-introduces-chat-themes-how-to-find-and-use-them), which will [rely on AI](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/86436/why-writers-should-not-rely-on-ai-tools-to-generate-the-content) of the corporation, which will be able to create summaries of messages that were not read. This tool gives summaries of a conversation and so its users can be able to follow up. Its functional ability is under [beta testing](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2603/gmail-end-to-end-encryption-beta-testing-is-now-available-to-more-users-in-a-selected-workspace) with limited users.

When turned on, the [Artificial Intelligence](https://www.mindstick.com/services/artificial-intelligence) in WhatsApp scans the messages. The AI determines the crucial topics, issues, or to do in the unread material. Through these AI summaries, there is some form of the delivery of missed discussions.

According to WhatsApp, these AI summaries are used inside its established [privacy](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/303849/how-to-protect-your-personal-information-and-privacy-online) guidelines. The characteristic puts more emphasis on processing on the device to ensure privacy to the user. The summarization is achieved by using [AI technology](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/299596/ai-technology-in-healthcare) provided by Meta in alignment with the principles of security by WhatsApp.

Currently, there is a limited beta of the AI summaries feature. WhatsApp has a wider, stage-wise rollout in consideration of test inputs. Such functionality deals with the typical dilemma of handling a large number of messages in a [group chat](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/110098/how-to-delete-whatsapp-group-chat-completely). The goal of the AI summaries is to save time to users.
