# Phones Will Keep Your "Head Up" While Walking: Google

Google is experimenting with a new feature out for all the Android devices that give users a “**heads up**” if it catches them using their phone while moving.

Tech enthusiast Jay Prakash Kamat uploaded a screenshot of the new feature, which can be reached through Android’s [Digital Wellbeing](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/102530/what-is-the-purpose-of-google-s-digital-wellbeing-features) application. Kamat initially detected the feature on his Pixel 4a.

The innovation will permit users to opt-in to notices to “***stop using [your phone](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/108492/what-to-do-if-your-phone-is-frozen) while you’re walking***.” It demands access to the user’s physical movement and location to control distraught usage. Still, the innovative feature warns that practicing it “**doesn’t follow [paying attention](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/32554/when-i-tweet-do-i-address-it-to-a-specific-person-or-am-i-putting-it-out-there-to-anyone-who-is-paying-attention-https-blog-hubspot-com-marketing-twitter-faqs-tweetsmarter)**” to approaching obstacles or traffic.

[Google](https://www.google.com/) declared Heads Up is yet in beta measuring in the Digital Wellbeing app, though interested Android users can try out the characters through the company’s beta application.

“***If you’ve ever tackled on the footpath or marched into a pole while texting, you’re not alone***,” the company said in its [explanation](https://answers.mindstick.com/blog/94/neural-network-simple-explanation-with-real-life-examples) of the point. “***If your [phone screen](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/108667/what-are-common-reasons-for-a-phone-screen-flickering) is unlocked and you’re walking, you’ll [experience](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12276/how-timely-order-deliveries-can-improve-customer-experience) a sensitive nudge to look up and give attention to what’s nearby***.”

The company also stated that while it acquired Heads Up to be as “**accurate as possible**” it [warned people](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/40635/which-great-awakening-preacher-warned-people-that-god-would-punish-them-if-they-did-not-change-their-ways) from relying entirely on the feature to keep them protected.

According to EHS Reports, troubled walking is supposed to be a “**significant safety threat**,” and has commenced to thousands of injuries over the past decade. Some states, including New York and Hawaii, have recently moved or regarded laws to crack down on foot-traveler cell phone usage.

A few weeks back, Google stated it would phase out the use of cookies to track [user data](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/160424/how-do-bearer-tokens-ensure-the-security-and-confidentiality-of-user-data) as it leads forward with various modern updates.
