Indian users are swiftly showing a shift to the trend of texting on **[multiple messaging apps](https://www.mindstick.com/news/320/signal-or-whatsapp-what-to-choose)** rather than adhering to a single app, according to a user insight research conducted by **techArc**.

The study covered over 2000 participants explored that Indian users are preferring multiple platforms based on their unique feature-sets and [communication](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/126321/5-fails-and-fixes-of-the-office-communication) apps such as **Telegram** and **Signal** as gaining ground.

Whereas, WhatsApp is left with 54 per cent of its users for over three years while its rival Telegram has added most of its users in the same three years. On the other hand, another [messaging app](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/95930/indian-army-launched-an-in-house-messaging-app-what-is-the-name-of-the-app) [gaining popularity](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/114034/what-are-the-most-significant-lifestyle-trends-that-are-gaining-popularity-this-year) is Signal where 47 per cent of its users arrived in just last one year according to the survey.

Faisal Kawoosa, Founder & Chief Analyst, techARC says here, “**Though there is a clear first-mover advantage for WhatsApp, users are increasingly signing up other platforms like Telegram and Signal for their [unique features](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/86311/20-dead-car-brands-in-america-and-their-unique-features) and [better security](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/97144/which-is-the-better-security-measure-https-or-ssl) they offer. With this future of messaging apps in India is going to be pluralistic in nature**."

Moreover, users claimed that Telegram’s privacy, channels, large group support and ability to create groups of up to 2,00,000 members and to share [large files](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/109/why-do-uploads-fail-while-using-an-asp-dot-net-file-upload-control-to-upload-large-files) are their main preference reasons.

Also, the **telegram** has evolved out as an **[education](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/126288/is-technology-really-developing-education-system-a-reality-check-13-points) medium** as 78 per cent users discovered [educational](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/93571/how-many-types-of-educational-games-are-there-at-kidszone) content on the app, while 49 per cent of the users of the same platform belongs to a regional group, sharing content in the native language as per the study.
