# DMRC Plans to Expand 'Virtual Stores' and 'Digi-Lockers' Facilities by 2024

**The** [**Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/3118/delhi-metro-launches-app-to-buy-mobile-qr-tickets) **is taking commuter convenience to the next level by introducing digital lockers and virtual stores at select metro stations.**

**Highlights**:

- **Digital Lockers via 'Momentum 2.0' App**: Delhi Metro commuters can now rent digital lockers at 50 stations using the 'Momentum 2.0' [mobile app](https://www.mindstick.com/services/mobile-app-development) launched on Wednesday.
- **Virtual Stores and Smart Lockers**: The app enables online purchasing from virtual stores at 20 metro stations, courier services via smart lockers, and the purchase of QR code-based tickets.
- **Expansion Plans**: DMRC intends to expand these facilities to most of its stations by June 2024.

The Delhi Metro, with a [network](https://www.mindstick.com/category/article/network) spanning 393 kilometers and 288 stations, is now offering a unique and [comprehensive](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/23461/a-comprehensive-guide-on-luggage-bags-and-cases) mobile app experience to its commuters. 'Momentum 2.0' was formally launched at the Shivaji Stadium metro station by DMRC's [Managing Director](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/38621/name-the-current-managing-director-of-international-monetary-fund-imf-who-was-been-re-elected-for-a-second-five-year-term), Vikas Kumar.

Through this app, available on both Android and iOS, commuters can rent 'smart boxes' (digi-lockers) at 50 stations across Lines 1-7 and the Airport Line. These stations include Rajiv Chowk, Millennium City Centre Gurugram, Dwarka Sector 10, [Supreme Court](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/81335/reservation-is-not-a-fundamental-right-supreme-court), and more. Users can rent lockers for a duration of one to six hours, with charges varying based on locker size.

The 'smart boxes' are part of a grid format, and each station has sets of 83-90 digital lockers with a central console. The process involves selecting the locker size, duration, and time slots, followed by payment, which generates a PIN number for access.

Virtual stores are accessible through QR codes, allowing users to make purchases and have them delivered to a specified metro station for pickup from a [digi-locker](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/81589/everything-to-know-about-pm-modi-s-digital-health-mission). The app also offers courier services, eliminating the need for traditional post offices or courier agencies.

Additionally, the app streamlines the ticketing process with QR code-based tickets for all metro lines, including the Airport Line. It also provides access to Delhi Metro smart card management, allowing users to check balances and set up 'auto top-up' for card balances.

Beyond [transportation](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/44185/the-transportation-revolution-with-electric-skateboards), the app offers utility bill payments, station-[related information](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/93486/do-we-get-any-notification-related-information-from-mindstick), and details on facilities, shops, outlets, kiosks, and ATMs at metro stations. It enhances [user experience](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12731/the-importance-of-feedback-to-the-user-experience) by offering information on the first and last train timings, food outlets, ATMs, and even the option to arrange transportation based on the train's arrival time.
