# China closed its doors for Clubhouse, Why?

**China** cut off access to an **Audio-Chatting application** due to the unsuitability of Chinese [Internet](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/44650/what-should-you-do-during-an-internet-outage) regulations.

![China closed its doors for Clubhouse, Why?](https://www.mindstick.com/usernews/595722/a99b7ef8-8042-456f-b86f-388206c48941/images/4cca6dc3-3018-43f0-bca0-a28f95b4834d.jpeg)

Though previously the US-based Clubhouse [**application**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/336/google-meet-unfolds-green-room-why) has received major popularity in China, on Monday users found it to be inaccessible. Users reported the claim of inaccessibility to the app, inside WeChat groups. The chances of its comeback are likely to be [equal to zero](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/40106/why-does-the-world-current-account-balance-not-equal-to-zero) as to comply with **Chinese Internet regulations**, it has to bear on extensive changes within it.

In the [United States](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2228/the-united-states-claims-seagate-broke-export-laws-by-selling-huawei-hard-drives), Clubhouse has been receiving criticism due to deprivation of moderation. According to the reports, the app was available on **Apple’s China [App Store](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2221/apple-s-new-ad-tax-on-the-app-store-is-a-clear-jab-at-meta)** and the [accessibility](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/304975/why-image-alt-text-matters-for-seo-and-accessibility) to it and its audio rooms were available without the use of a VPN.

Benjamin Ismail, campaign and advocacy director at GreatFire.org says, "***This is not Apple’s doing but surely they must be happy to get out of a tight spot, as the [discussion](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/44930/what-is-the-procedure-for-half-an-hour-discussion) will shift from Apple’s [involvement](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/87552/what-happened-in-the-bangladesh-crisis-and-cia-involvement) in the removal from App Store to the blocking of servers by authorities***."

For now, Clubhouse is an exclusive application of **iPhone**, and to join the conversation on the app, you will have to join through the invitation link of the app.

"***Anyone can get one by joining the waitlist, or by asking an existing user for one***," according to the Clubhouse app description. The app also has a website named **joinclubhouse.com** that redirects users to the Apple App Store. You can also [download](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/188403/website-to-download-photos-from-instagram) the app on an iPad but not on iPadOS. On its arrival on April 2020 by Alpha Exploration, it has reported over 2.4 million downloads on Apple’s App Store worldwide.
