# The creator of ChatGPT acknowledges having a "troll streak" online

We are swiftly approaching the first anniversary of a significant breakthrough made by ChatGPT. It's interesting to note that just a year ago, very few people were familiar with [Sam Altman](https://www.mindstick.com/news/4040/openai-board-discusses-ceo-sam-altman-s-equity-compensation), the creator of ChatGPT and the CEO of OpenAI. Today, Altman stands out [as one](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/34642/which-indian-it-company-has-been-recognized-as-one-of-the-world-s-best-employers-by-the-top-employer-institute-for-the-third-consecutive-year) of the most recognizable [tech](https://www.mindstick.com/services/technologies) CEOs in the industry.

According to a report from Business Insider, Altman recently revealed in an interview with podcaster Joe Rogan that he has a penchant for trolling people on the internet. He candidly admitted, "I have more of an internet troll streak than I would like to admit," while also acknowledging that he tries to resist this inclination but occasionally succumbs to the "temptation."

Altman emphasized the detrimental impact of such "reactive" behaviors like trolling on people's careers and relationships. He expressed his concern that individuals often struggle to resist this impulse, leading to a situation where people have become more accepting of emotional violence in their online interactions. In his view, this trend mirrors a decline in society's tolerance for physical violence over the [past few decades](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/115250/how-have-women-s-roles-evolved-in-indian-cinema-over-the-past-few-decades).
