# GitHub launches Copilot Chat beta for business users of Visual Studio

**July 24, 2023** - GitHub today announced the limited public beta release of [GitHub Copilot](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/88551/claude-vs-github-copilot-for-coding) Chat for all business users on [Visual Studio and VS Code.](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/327183/creating-dll-file-in-c-sharp-with-visual-studio-code-dyanmic-link-library-dll) Copilot Chat is a contextually-aware chatbot that is designed to help developers write code more [efficiently and effectively](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/158216/how-does-a-computer-system-ensure-that-memory-is-used-efficiently-and-effectively).

Copilot Chat uses GitHub Copilot's GPT-4 [language model](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/34471/what-is-a-large-language-model-llm) to understand the code that developers are writing and to suggest relevant code snippets, best practices, and troubleshooting tips. It can also be used to [answer questions](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/96509/how-do-you-answer-questions-on-reddit) about coding concepts and to provide general assistance with [development projects.](https://www.mindstick.com/services/erp-software-development)

Copilot Chat is currently available in a limited public beta. To participate, business users must have a GitHub Copilot subscription and must be running Visual Studio 2022 version 17.5.1 or higher.
