# Will Giving AI Entities A True Name Minimize Their Bad Behaviors?

As [artificial intelligence (AI)](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/302478/artificial-intelligence-exploring-the-power-and-potential-of-ai) becomes increasingly sophisticated, there is growing concern about the potential for AI to be used for malicious purposes. Some experts believe that giving AI entities a "true name" could help to minimize the risk of bad behavior.

The concept of a "true name" for an AI entity is still in its [early stages](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/32959/in-the-early-stages-of-the-american-revolutionary-war-who-was-fighting-against-whom), but it refers to the idea of giving each AI entity a unique identity and address. This would allow for the establishment of trust and accountability among AI systems.

Proponents of the "true name" concept argue that it would make it more difficult for AI entities to engage in malicious activities, such as spreading [misinformation](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/304586/the-role-of-advertisement-to-spread-misinformation) or hacking into [computer systems.](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/301280/history-and-evolution-of-operating-systems) They also argue that it would make it easier to hold AI entities accountable for their actions.

However, there are also some [challenges associated](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/160346/explain-the-security-and-data-integrity-challenges-associated-with-nosql-databases) with the "true name" concept. One challenge is that it could be difficult to implement, as it would require a significant amount of coordination among different [AI developers](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/34489/ai-development-company-vs-freelance-ai-developers-cost-risks-and-best-choice). Another challenge is that it could be seen as a [form of censorship](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/96065/is-reddit-s-sorry-this-post-was-removed-by-reddit-s-spam-filters-form-of-censorship), as it would restrict the ability of AI entities to operate anonymously.

Despite the challenges, the "true name" concept is gaining some traction among AI researchers and policymakers. Some experts believe that it could be an important tool for mitigating the [risks of AI](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/111260/what-are-the-risks-of-ai).

## Here are some of the key arguments for and against giving AI entities a "true name":

## Arguments for:

- It would make it more difficult for AI entities to engage in malicious activities.
- It would make it easier to hold AI entities accountable for their actions.
- It would help to build trust between AI entities and humans.

## Arguments against:

- It could be difficult to implement.
- It could be seen as a form of censorship.
- It could limit the [creativity and innovation](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/112672/how-do-americans-foster-creativity-and-innovation-in-their-communities) of AI systems.

**The future of the "true name" concept is uncertain. However, it is a concept that is [worth considering](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/51518/what-are-the-major-differences-between-the-iphone-6-iphone-6s-iphone-7-and-iphone-8-are-these-older-models-still-worth-considering) as we continue to develop and deploy AI systems.**
