# Elon Musk's Twitter sued by employees, claiming it refuses to pay 2022 bonuses

**[San Francisco](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39936/in-2006-which-player-signed-a-one-day-contract-with-the-american-football-team-san-francisco-49ers-then-retired), CA** - A group of Twitter [employees](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/44463/business-to-business-vat-reclaiming-a-guide-for-your-employees) have filed a [lawsuit](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2466/21-million-people-are-suing-google-in-a-class-action-lawsuit) against the company, alleging that it has refused to pay their **2022** bonuses. The lawsuit, which was filed in San Francisco [federal court](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/32911/how-are-jurors-contacted-for-service-in-federal-court-in-the-usa) on Tuesday, names Elon Musk as a defendant.

The employees say that they were promised **50% of their target bonus amounts** in 2022, but that Twitter has refused to pay them. The lawsuit alleges that Twitter's refusal to pay the bonuses is a breach of contract.

"**Twitter has refused to pay the bonuses that it promised to its employees**," the lawsuit says. "**This is a clear breach of contract, and it is unfair to the employees who have worked hard for the company**."

The lawsuit also alleges that Twitter's refusal to pay the bonuses is part of a broader pattern of mismanagement by [Elon Musk](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1920/to-settle-location-tracking-lawsuit-for-37-5-million-meta-files-motion). The lawsuit says that Musk has "**created a chaotic and unpredictable work [environment](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/308/need-to-create-a-supportive-work-environment-for-women)**" at Twitter and that this has led to a decline in morale and productivity.

**"Elon Musk's mismanagement of Twitter has had a devastating impact on the company," the lawsuit says. "Employees are quitting in droves, and the company's stock price has plummeted."**

Twitter has not yet filed a response to the lawsuit. However, the company has previously said that it is [committed](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/290/zoos-prisons-for-beings-who-have-never-committed-a-crime) to paying its employees their bonuses.

"**We are committed to paying our employees their bonuses,**" Twitter said in a statement. "We are currently reviewing the lawsuit, and we will defend ourselves vigorously."

The outcome of the lawsuit is uncertain. However, the case could have a [significant impact](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/51285/why-did-the-misery-index-have-a-significant-impact-on-carter-s-election-loss-in-1980-a-it-highlighted-carter-s-foreign-policy-failures-b-it-showed-carter-s-lack-of-commitment-to-social-welfare-c) on Twitter's future. If the employees are successful, it could force Twitter to pay them their bonuses and could also lead to changes in the company's management.

## Here are some additional details about the lawsuit:

- The lawsuit was filed by a group of 11 Twitter employees.\
- The lawsuit is filed in San Francisco federal court.\
- The case is assigned to Judge William Alsup.\
- The lawsuit is a major [development](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/65309/importance-of-ux-design-in-the-development-of-mobile-apps) in the ongoing saga of Elon Musk's [acquisition](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2246/following-elon-musk-s-acquisition-gm-suspends-its-twitter-advertising) of Twitter. The lawsuit could add to the pressure on Musk to complete the acquisition, or it could lead to a legal battle that could delay or even derail the deal.

It will be interesting to see how the case unfolds and what impact it has on Twitter's future. The outcome of the case could have a significant impact on the company's finances and its ability to attract and retain employees.
