# Musk's Brain -chip startup, animal- testing panel questions about Potential Violations

Elon Musk’s Neuralink [animal testing](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/98088/is-it-possible-to-justify-animal-testing) committee asked questions about the potential violations. Staff members of Neuralink are being compensated with salary and stock-based incentives.

[Elon Musk’s](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2962/elon-musk-learned-a-lot-from-spacex-starship-explosion) startup is based on research on the brains of animals called “Neuralink has filled an oversight board with company internals who might be the standees in benefit financially as the firm reaches [development goals](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/100953/how-does-the-united-nations-promote-sustainable-development-goals-sdgs).

On certain types of animals, such oversight boards are required by federal law [organizations](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/84018/why-should-b2b-organizations-use-content-marketing) to [experiment](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/43405/who-created-the-holy-experiment) on them. has been notified that such panels are totally charged with ensuring proper animal care and high standards of research.

Now Musk’s company [Neuralink’s](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2935/elon-musk-s-neuralink-seeks-a-surgical-trial-partner) panel raises questions about potential violations of conflict-of-interest and the panel is aimed totally at the [protection](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/301143/how-to-wear-knee-braces-for-the-best-protection) of animals and proper care of them. The company is conducting some research on animals for which the company seeks regulatory approvals for human trials of a [brain chip](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2535/us-lawmakers-push-for-greater-oversight-of-elon-musk-s-brain-chip-company-neuralink) which have the intention to help paralyzed people type with their mind.

It is said in a document revealed from the company as nineteen of the board’s 22 members were Neuralink employees as of late 2022.

We could not find the details earlier of the members of the panel of the company and its potential conflicts.

As per the review board (institutional animal care and use committees) IACUCs. Some experts in animal research and bioethics said it is rare for the [organization](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/100623/what-is-the-role-of-the-world-health-organization-in-global-health) to add people with such direct financial stakes in the research outcomes.

A neuroscientist and physician, Dr. Miguel Nicolelis also conducted brain implant research at Duke [University](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/188407/the-north-south-divide-university-cost-comparison) for nearly three decades. As he said that the IACUC teams and their members are overseeing their animal practicals and they never had any role in research.
