# Jio's Cheap 5G Services Would Make It the World's Largest Network

Reliance Jio, the leading telecommunications provider in India, plans to emerge [as the world](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/62160/according-to-the-henley-passport-index-india-ranks-which-position-as-the-world-s-most-travel-friendly-passport)'s largest player with a complete 5G network this year, with the commitment to offer services to the public at cheap prices, according to a top executive of the business.

\

Mathew Oommen, president of Reliance Jio, told the PTI at the Mobile World Congress that India need inclusive and sustainable growth, which Jio would continue to promote.

\

"By the second half of 2023, Jio will have become the largest [**5G**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2733/the-5g-network-might-be-utilised-for-illicit-drug-and-money-transfers) SA-only network provider in the world, guaranteeing that all sophisticated offerings and abilities are affordable for the consumers," added Oommen.

He was replying to inquiries on the firm's 5G rollout strategy and Jio's rival Bharti Airtel's drive for an increase in the cost of mobile voice and [internet services](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/83401/internet-services-blocked-in-srinagar-amid-al-qaeda-threat-to-india).

Jio has prioritised the deployment of [**5G Services**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2678/5g-services-in-india-to-attract-rs-1-5-lakh-crore-in-investments-in-2023), whilst Bharti Airtel is deploying a 5G (NSA) non-standalone network that can deliver a combination of 5G and 4G services. "India requires inclusive expansion.

\

Jio will continue to encourage inclusive growth in India "Oommen remarked. Chairman of Bharti Airtel Sunil Bharti Mittal stated earlier this week that [mobile phone](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/95862/mobile-phone-technology-has-revolutionized-the-marketing-industry) and internet tariffs will increase this year due to the extremely low investment return in the telecommunications industry.

\

Airtel raised the pricing of its minimal recharge or entry-level 28-day cell phone package by around 57% to Rs 155 in eight circles last month. Oommen did not comment on the statement further. Jio's 5G network is available in over 300 cities, while Airtel's is available in over 140.

5G [tech](https://www.mindstick.com/services/technologies) has a maximum theoretical speed of 20 Gbps, whereas 4G innovation has a potential peak speed of 1 Gbps. 5G also offers reduced latency, which will improve the speed of corporate apps and other digital products (such as [online gaming](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/95819/why-investors-are-loving-the-online-gaming-market), videoconferencing, and self-driving cars).

Whereas prior generations of [mobile network](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1740/1000-mobile-networks-towers-to-be-installed-in-maoist-affected-areas-of-andhra-pradesh) (such as 4G LTE) concentrated on assuring connectivity, 5G takes communication links to the next level by providing customers with cloud-based, linked experiences. 5G systems are virtualized, software-centric, and utilise [cloud technology](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12519/7-misconceptions-about-cloud-technology-in-a-business).

The 5G network will also facilitate mobility by providing smooth open roaming among cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity. Without user involvement or reauthentication, mobile users may stay connected when they travel between outside wireless connections and [wireless networks](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/158562/how-can-wireless-networks-be-secured-against-unauthorized-access-and-attacks) within buildings.
