# M1, M2 MacBook Users Reportedly Facing Wi-Fi Connectivity

You're not alone if you've recently encountered poor Wi-Fi connections or frequent [Internet connection](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/299301/how-to-test-your-internet-connection-s-quality-over-time) drops on your M1 or M2 MacBook at work. Multiple complaints of Wi-Fi [connection problems](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12983/remedies-to-overcome-the-hdmi-connection-problems) with [**Apple**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2545/for-apple-users-twitter-will-relaunch-twitter-blue-at-a-higher-price) silicon-powered MacBooks when linked to some [business networks](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/105157/how-to-choose-a-mobile-security-solution-for-business-networks) have been noted in a recent article.

According to reports, the problem started after Apple recently published security upgrades for macOS Ventura. There is a temporary remedy for this problem, and the source claims that Apple is developing a more long-lasting solution, however it is unclear when the update will be released.

The information is provided by Meter, a technology firm with headquarters in [San Francisco](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39936/in-2006-which-player-signed-a-one-day-contract-with-the-american-football-team-san-francisco-49ers-then-retired) that offers Internet infrastructure for companies. According to the firm, M1 and M2 MacBook users who have used specific office Wi-Fi networks have reported experiencing poor Internet performance, dropped connections during Zoom calls, and complete Wi-Fi connectivity loss.

[According to the report](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/38115/according-to-the-report-released-by-the-ministry-of-environment-forests-and-climate-change-on-august-12-what-is-the-total-estimated-number-of-elephants-in-india), many Wi-Fi vendors have received complaints about this problem from businesses as well as [educational institutions](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/113765/how-can-educational-institutions-address-the-challenges-posed-by-increasing-student-diversity) like UCLA in the US. The report claims that the problem is related to [**Apple's**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2546/tata-group-to-open-100-exclusive-apple-stores) AWDL (Apple Wireless Direct Link) interface, which is used for features like AirDrop and AirPlay.

According to the business, recent updates to **iOS and macOS, which were released on October 24 and November 9 respectively, appear to interfere with the Wi-Fi connection when AWDL is activated.** According to Meter, the M1 and M2 [MacBook Pro](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/110662/how-to-delete-instagram-account-on-macbook-pro-safari-browser) models appear to be the most severely impacted.

The **performance of Wi-Fi appears to improve right away when AWDL is disabled, and Meter's report includes instructions on how to do this.** The manufacturer further claims that you won't experience this problem at home because there isn't as much stress placed on [your MacBook](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/49913/what-to-do-if-your-macbook-is-not-charging)'s Wi-Fi radio as there might be in some commercial setups. Hopefully, Apple will release a more long-lasting fix in a subsequent update.
