# Tim Cook Confirms and discloses That iPhones Use Sony Camera Sensors.

Apple CEO Tim Cook admitted in a recent tweet that Sony image sensors have been a part of the iPhone for more than [ten years](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2231/future-plans-as-microsoft-has-defined-the-past-ten-years-of-windows) at the Cupertino company. This is a rare case of Apple providing specific information about the [components](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/74096/understanding-the-role-of-some-integral-ac-components) utilised in their products.

The [resolution](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12502/looking-for-an-mba-degree-we-guide-you-with-the-perfect-resolution), aperture, and other basic minimum information about the camera are frequently listed in the company's [**iPhone**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2546/tata-group-to-open-100-exclusive-apple-stores) models' specs. There have been many rumours over the years suggesting that Sony was providing camera sensors for the iPhone. It's expected that even the iPhone 15 will have a cutting-edge Sony image sensor.

Sony has supplied the iPhone's camera sensor for more than ten years, according to a tweet from Cook on Tuesday. A photo of Cook and Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida touring the Kumamoto factory was also included. The various rumours that the iPhone used Sony camera sensors seem to be dispelled by this assertion.

According to reports, Sony held a 44 percent market share for complementary metal oxide [semiconductor](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/333879/manufacturing-of-chips-in-the-semiconductor-market) (CMOS) image sensors in 2021, followed by Samsung with 18.5 percent. **In order to control about 60% of the CMOS image sensor market by 2025, the business has reportedly allocated about JPY 900 billion (about Rs. 54,000 crore) for 2023.**
