# Eve Matter finally arrives on devices you can actually use.

One of the first smart home appliances to support Matter is the Eve Motion sensor.\

The first smart home appliances that implement the Matter standard are now available after a few months of development. As stated in November, Eve Systems is adding Matter support to three of its products: the Eve Energy plug, the Eve Door & Window sensor, and the Eve Motion sensor. The free firmware enables HomeKit-exclusive hardware to communicate with any new controller, including [**Samsung's**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2539/samsung-galaxy-m04-with-128gb-storage-and-5-000mah-battery-launched-in-india) SmartThings app and forthcoming support from Amazon Alexa and [Google Home](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/33285/how-to-setup-google-home-smart-device).

The update, which could be released this week, presently requires the unofficial iOS and iPadOS 16.2 upgrades, according to The Verge, and you'll need to sign up for an early access programme. However, you won't require Apple products for very long. On other [control systems](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/104422/what-is-the-purpose-of-version-control-systems), you'll initially just have access to basic capabilities, although the [Android app](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94774/how-much-coding-is-needed-to-make-an-android-app-using-android-studio) should increase support.

With Matter, you may use your preferred equipment without worrying about [compatibility](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/story/1513/7-zodiac-signs-astrology-dates-meanings-amp-compatibility) issues that still exist in the world of [smart homes](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/306524/the-evolution-of-smart-homes-beyond-voice-assistants) where you may need [specific apps](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/109722/how-to-enable-gaming-mode-on-specific-apps-on-oxygen-os) or [smart speakers](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1100/growing-demand-of-smart-speakers-smart-display-despite-component-shortage-in-q3-2021-report). As long as a bulb or thermostat has the Matter badging, it should work with your current system, so you won't have to worry about that.

Of course, the drawback is that additional companies will have to do the same. Although Matter-ready hubs, network routers, and apps will be available quite soon, the end products won't be widely available until 2023. However, major smart home [**companies**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2546/tata-group-to-open-100-exclusive-apple-stores) like Philips Hue subsidiary Signify have already expressed their support, so it's more a matter of time than a lack of interest.
