# Snapchat Progressive Web App for Windows Released on Microsoft Store.

For those who utilise Windows 10 or Windows 11, **Snapchat** has released an app. The new app may be downloaded via the Microsoft Store as a progressive Web app (PWA), which Microsoft Edge will support on PCs running Windows 10 and 11. PWAs are [Web applications](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/11464/improve-your-understanding-of-web-applications) that perform utilising Web pages and include support for notifications and home screen icons.

The [recently released](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39216/what-is-the-india-s-rank-in-the-global-corruption-perception-index-cpi-for-2017-which-is-recently-released-by-the-transparency-international-ti) Web version of Snapchat serves as the foundation for Snapchat for Windows. **Windows Central claims that the Snapchat app for Windows is a PWA that utilises Microsoft's Edge browser, which is built on Chromium. However, it is only 1.4MB** in size and offers the same functions as the Web version. The app runs through Microsoft Edge and, like other PWAs, Windows will regard it like a 'native' app (an application created specifically for a platform or [operating system](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/229069/operating-system-development)).

As with other [messaging apps](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/105245/how-to-secure-business-information-on-mobile-messaging-apps) on Windows, **Snapchat** for Windows will support notifications and have an app icon. Users can also add a shortcut to the PWA to their desktop or taskbar and quickly access the app from the Start Menu.\
**The Snapchat for Windows software is available for free download and installation from the Microsoft Store for users of Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers.** As was already noted, the app needs the most recent version of Microsoft Edge to function properly. The [social media](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/13056/how-to-leverage-social-media-to-attract-lots-of-blog-traffic) company updated Snapchat+, its premium membership service, last month with new features, including 'Custom Story Expiration,' which gives premium subscribers control over when their stories expire.

For users that pay for the service, the app also included new personalised notifications, story borders, and other features. In India, the Snapchat+ membership was formally introduced in August of last year.

**Six exclusive features, including Badge, Custom App Icons, Rewatch Indicator, Best Friends Forever, Ghost Trails on Snap Map, and Solar System, are only available through Snapchat's [premium subscription](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/109986/how-to-cancel-a-linkedin-premium-subscription) service.** In India, the service costs Rs. 49 per month, but in the US, a monthly Snapchat+ subscription costs $3.99, or nearly Rs. 330.
