# Hundreds of iPhones impounded since Apple does not sell chargers with them.

- As a result of Apple not including a charger in the box, hundreds of iPhones have been seized in Brazil.
- Apple has asked the [government](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/276/performance-of-government-in-the-center) to permit it to continue selling iPhones while the [final decision](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/51386/what-was-the-final-decision-of-plessy-v-ferguson) is being made.
- For the same reason, the corporation has previously paid a fine (about Rs 150 crore).

The absence of a charger in the retail box of an [**iPhone**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2449/additional-decline-in-november-iphone-shipments-at-the-chinese-foxconn-plant) appears to be having serious repercussions for Apple [right now](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/36863/what-would-happen-if-gravity-became-5-percent-stronger-right-now). Numerous iPhones appear to have been seized from different retail locations in Brazil because the **Brazilian government thinks the company has been selling its smartphone without a necessary attachment.**

Given that Apple already received two fines for the same offence, the government's most recent move is not particularly surprising. The **most recent endeavour of the country, dubbed '[Operation](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/33917/how-to-callback-operation-using-delegate-in-c-sharp) Discharge,' entailed stealing iPhones from various businesses, according to a report from 9To5Mac.**

The devices are available at carrier stores [as well as](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/2481/can-you-write-a-java-class-that-could-be-used-both-as-an-applet-as-well-as-an-application) authorised reseller locations for the business. This has been done to get Apple to abide by the nation's most recent directive not to sell [**iPhones**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2429/over-20-000-new-hires-to-be-departing-foxconn-amidst-iphone-factory-workers-protest) without a charger. Shortly after the country seized the devices, Apple (Brazil) approached the government for [permission](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/159434/linux-service-permission-denied-error-adjust-permissions) to sell the iPhones.

Until a decision is made, the iPhone manufacturer apparently has [authority](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/156108/what-is-domain-authority) to sell the cellphones. **Apple was fined BRL 100 million (roughly Rs 150 crore) in October for failing to include a charger in the box.** Apple was found to have engaged in 'abusive practises' by selling its high-end gadgets without a charger, according to a complaint brought by the group of debtors, [consumers](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/43079/how-did-the-national-consumers-league-try-to-improve-the-lives-of-workers), and taxpayers in Sao Paulo state court.

**Apple received a fine of more than $2.5 million for the same issue back in September.** It was illegal for the company to sell iPhones in Brazil if it planned to leave a charger out of the box. It was later granted permission to sell apartments up until a fresh decision was made.
