# Brazil judicial fines Apple and mandates that iPhones be sold with chargers.

The **iPhone 14 series was introduced by Apple earlier this year. Multiple [improvements](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/306937/claude-4-explained-features-improvements-and-use-cases) above the ordinary versions are made to the new [iPhone 14 Pro](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/story/1077/iphone-14-pro-max-launching-today-is-expected-to-get-5-major-upgrades) series.** The charging speed was one area where there was no enhancement or upgrade.

Like the [**iPhone 12**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2060/how-to-fix-the-most-annoying-ios-16-features-on-your-iphone) and iPhone 13 series, Apple did not include a charger with the device. The business has been the target of litigation because of the decision, which it says was made to [protect the environment](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/43470/which-book-led-movement-to-protect-the-environment) and lessen e-waste.

Brazil rejects this and has chosen to penalise **Apple $19 million for leaving a charger out of the box. Following a case brought by the Brazilian association of borrowers, consumers, and taxpayers, the Brazilian court issued the ruling (AMBCC).**

According to the Reuters report, Apple has been instructed to include a charger in the package when selling its latest [iPhone models](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/51516/what-are-all-the-differences-between-the-iphone-5-iphone-5s-and-iphone-se-are-any-of-these-small-iphone-models-still-worth-buying) in Brazil.

Since beginning to **sell iPhones in Brazil without a charger in the package, Apple has been involved in legal disputes there for a considerable amount of time.** Apple announced that it has ceased including chargers in the package after the most recent order in an effort to reduce [carbon emissions](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/113705/what-are-the-recent-global-efforts-to-address-climate-change-and-reduce-carbon-emissions). It made the case that customers could use their existing chargers to recharge the [iPhone battery](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94566/how-do-i-get-an-iphone-battery-s-health-back-to-100) using the included wire.

As an alternative, Apple still sells chargers separately, which customers may get from a variety of online and physical retailers.

The **$19 million fine was imposed on Apple by the Brazilian court when it became clear that the trillion dollar US [tech](https://www.mindstick.com/services/technologies) company's defence was unconvincing.** Additionally, Apple was mandated to pack a charger in the box. The business will challenge the court's decision.

The Justice Ministry of Brazil recently penalised Apple $2.38 million for failing to provide the charger in the box. The ministry said that by excluding a charger from the packaging, **Apple** was giving customers a defective product.

Additionally, it instructed **Apple to halt sales of its iPhones in India until Brazilian customers received a charger in the box. Apple refused to abide by the directive and announced it will challenge the decision while coordinating with authorities to allay any worries.**
