On the basis of a complaint made by the Digital News Publishers Association, CCI ordered a probe against [**Google**](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2064/google-says-shared-network-costs-is-10-year-old-idea-bad-for-consumers) in January of this year. Later, the Indian Newspaper Society also brought a lawsuit along similar lines, and it was combined with the first. According to a Friday decision from the watchdog, the **regulator's investigation branch, the [Director General](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/62156/who-has-been-appointed-as-director-general-fire-services-civil-defence-and-home-guards) (DG), will now submit a report on a combined inquiry.** The News Broadcasters & Digital Association said that its members were compelled to give Google their news content in order to give their web links higher priority on **Google's Search [Engine Result](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/85489/important-facts-about-search-engine-result-pages) Page (SERP).** As a result, the case claims that Google profiteers from the members' material without adequately compensating them.
