# US Security Deal getting Inched by TikTok to Avoid Sale

**U.S.** lawmakers and **TikTok** were hammering a plan, under this plan the short-form video app would create changes to its data [security](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1706/tiktok-is-working-to-safeguard-the-us-data-and-national-security) and governance without requiring its parent firm, **China's ByteDance** to sell it. \

In order to resolve the [national security](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/106107/how-does-the-national-security-council-function) issues **TikTok** and the **Biden** administration have drafted a preliminary agreement however they were still deciding on a possible agreement.

A TikTok spokesperson had declined to comment down on the report but it had mentioned that the app was assured about being having the ability to '**fully satisfy all reasonable U.S. national [security concerns](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/101717/how-does-india-address-national-security-concerns)**.'

ByteDance along with the **[White House](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1232/white-house-discussion-on-software-security-participant-apple-amazon-google-ibm-meta-executives)** had declined the request to comment down their views.

TikTok has long long-faced scrutiny from U.S. lawmakers, these were the same people who have questioned the Chinese-owned app's safeguards of user information.

It has already been more than **2 years** since a U.S. national security panel had ordered parent company ByteDance to divest [TikTok](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1899/tiktok-gave-teaching-lesson-to-the-influencers-about-us-election-rules) because of fears that U.S. user information would possible get passed on to China's communist government.
