# Fewer Vehicles to be Produced in October by Toyota Due to Semiconductor Shortages

On **Thursday**, **Toyota Motor** mentioned that it had planned to provide around **800,000 vehicles** worldwide in the month of **October**, about **100,000 short** of its average monthly [production](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/story/1489/the-countries-that-dominate-world-fossil-fuel-production) plan because of [semiconductor](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1992/a-semiconductor-manufacturing-plant-to-be-set-up-in-gujarat-by-vedanta-and-foxconn) shortages.

```
HIGHLIGHTS
Japanese automakers aimed to provide about 900,000 vehicles per month
Toyota would suspend its production for up to twelve days for ten lines
Honda Motor reduce car output by up to 40 percent at 2 Japanese plants
```

Well, the [reduction](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12951/the-importance-of-breakfast-in-weight-reduction) appear as a worrisome sign that the chip shortage would still continue to stymie production at the world's largest auto manufacturer by sales within the [second half](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/50143/what-challanges-did-the-us-face-in-the-second-half-of-the-19th-century) of the year towards **March**.

It seemed as vital period for the group to reclaim from a production deficiency caused by a shortage within the key vehicle [component](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12262/learn-how-to-make-a-component-in-magento-2) and wider [supply chain](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/23184/how-blockchain-is-helping-supply-chain-management) disruptions.

Still, [Toyota](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1471/toyota-will-suspends-its-operations-at-russia-plant-amid-russia-and-ukraine-crisis) has not adjusted its world vehicle production target for this year remaining to its forecast for a record **9.7 million units**.

The Japanese auto manufacturer has mentioned last month that it had aimed to provide about **900,000 vehicles per month** on the average from **September** month through **November**.

It currently expects to provide about **850,000 vehicles per month** on the average from **October to December**.

According to its **October** production plan, Toyota would suspend its production for up to twelve days for ten lines at seven domestic factories.

Previously, **Japanese automakers** have recommended that the chip shortage has been easing however, it would be unclear once it would get resolved.

Despite the expectations that the chip supply crunch would ease from the second quarter of the [financial year](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/115304/what-major-changes-were-made-in-the-union-budget-of-india-for-the-financial-year-2025-26) onwards, there would be an increase in electrified vehicles and cars equipped with [advanced driver-assistance](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/85272/advanced-driver-assistance-systems-adas-technology-for-safer-driving) systems would require additional semiconductors per vehicle.

Toyota's rival **Honda Motor** has mentioned that it would reduce car output by up to **40 percent** at **2 Japanese plants** in early **October** because of current supply chain and logistical problems, along with the chip shortage.
