On **Tuesday, Brazil** has mentioned that it was going to ban the sales of **iPhones** that do not come along with a charging USB power adapter. After two years, this decision came after **Apple** had stopped the addition of charging **USB power adapter** and earphones within the iPhone retail boxes in order to create them smaller and to reduce the [carbon footprint](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/114615/how-can-individuals-reduce-their-carbon-footprint-to-help-fight-global-warming).

The **Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security** had published an order that has noted that the company has being penalised with **$2.34 million**. The order had mentioned that the [environmental](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/52080/who-has-been-awarded-the-2019-goldman-environmental-prize) reasons which were provided were not at all enough and it had shifted the burden on the buyer in order to get a charger. It opined that the company might take different steps, like change to **USB-C** from the lightning port for charging the iPhone.

Earlier this year, the country’s telecommunication regulator has mentioned that it has been considering creating USB-C the default port for all smartphones.

This wasn’t the first time when the company had received a notice of fines from a Brazilian agency. In response, the company had mentioned that it has been operating with local [consumer protection](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/38063/consumer-protection-act-1986-was-amended-in) agency **SENACON** to conciliate their issues.

An Apple spokesperson has mentioned that “**We have already won many court rulings in Brazil on this matter and we were assured enough that our customers were attentive to the varied choices for charging and connecting their device**.”

The [tech](https://www.mindstick.com/services/technologies) giant had mentioned that by removing chargers from the retail box the company has been ready to cut [carbon emissions](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/113705/what-are-the-recent-global-efforts-to-address-climate-change-and-reduce-carbon-emissions) which were equivalent to taking **5,000 cars** off the road.

The big decision came simply before the launch of the [Apple's](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1901/during-early-september-the-apple-s-iphone-14-event-would-be-conducted) **[iPhone 14](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1901/during-early-september-the-apple-s-iphone-14-event-would-be-conducted)** at its “**Far Out**” event in **Cupertino**.
