# Massive Data Breach being Faced by Samsung

**Samsung** has been notifying some users about a [data breach](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1003/defending-individuals-from-data-breaches-the-new-public-threat) that had taken away [personal information](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/102585/how-to-secure-personal-information-on-a-laptop) like **birthdays, [contact information](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/95174/how-do-i-add-contact-information-to-outlook-email) and additional users**. The data of [Samsung](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1942/samsung-display-to-provide-80-million-oled-panels-to-iphone-14-series) users within the **US** was comprised within the breach that took place in **July** in this year. The company in the email had noted that an unauthorized third party had acquired information from a number of Samsung’s **U.S.** systems.\

The company's **FAQ** page states that “**in late July 2022, an unauthorized third party had acquired information from a number of Samsung’s U.S. systems. On or around August 4, 2022, we have determined through our current investigation that [private information](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/84032/how-to-stop-google-from-collecting-your-private-information-from-google) of customers were affected. We have taken actions to secure the affected systems and have engaged a leading outside cybersecurity firm and were coordinating with enforcement**.” However, Samsung had ensured that the breach failed to impact **[Social Security](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/35799/which-president-established-social-security-benefits)** numbers or credit and debit credit numbers.

Personal info like name, contact and demographic information, date of birth, and products registration information of some users within the US were taken within the data breach that took place in **July**. Samsung had noted within the [blog](https://www.mindstick.com/developersection/blog) that information had been affecting every relevant client could vary. They have been notifying customers to make sure that they were aware of this matter.

Samsung on its FAQ page that users were needed to change their passwords or create specific changes to their devices to keep their accounts as “**consumer devices weren't affected in connection to this incident**.” However, they did ask the users to stay cautious of any uninvited [communications](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/44489/leased-lines-and-other-tools-for-business-communications) that ask for personal information or refer an individual to a web page asking for personal information. The company had asked users to refrain from clicking on suspicious links, or attachments from suspicious emails.

Well, Samsung has mentioned about strengthening the [privacy and security](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/112666/how-do-americans-manage-their-digital-privacy-and-security) of the users “**we have been committed to protect the security and privacy of our customers. we have been engaged in leading cybersecurity consultants and were coordinating with enforcement. We were going to still work diligently to develop and implement immediate and longer-term next steps to more enhance the protection across our systems**.”
