# Insulated from Cyber Attacks, Electricity Grid in India got Future Ready

**Union [Power Minister RK Singh](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/95897/by-which-year-india-will-achieve-zero-diesel-use-in-agriculture-and-replace-fossil-fuel-with-renewable-energy-according-to-union-power-minister-rk-singh)** has mentioned that India's power network would be very much future-ready and would be insulated from [cyber attacks](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1650/fbi-director-claims-iran-russia-and-china-to-be-the-sponsored-nations-for-global-cyberattacks) with the availability of routine inspections and timely action under the **Electricity [Amendment Bill](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39413/the-81st-constitutional-amendment-bill-deals-with)**.

Cyber would attract threat which has been a difficulty and the [government](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/276/performance-of-government-in-the-center) had to do all what it takes to handle that. Currently through the **Electricity Amendment Bill 2022**, the power ministry had made a provision for the inspection of the national electricity grid for maintaining cyber hygiene within the network.

Singh has mentioned that '**on our power transmission system we have been facing continuous cyber attacks. We all have an idea about where did this all have been emanating. Although we had provided (a safeguard) for that, which needs examination frequently. We all need to follow cyber hygiene**.'

'**Therefore, to empower our central (national) load dispatch centre we have that much tendency so that we make sure that we do inspections and provides directions. We had only one grid within the country and if there would be some issue in one corner of the country then the whole grid would collapse. That was the reason why this provision was created**.' The bill would provide for amending section **26 of the Act** in order to strengthen the functioning of the **National Load Despatch Centre** for making the [protection](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/301143/how-to-wear-knee-braces-for-the-best-protection) and security of the grid and for the economic and efficient operation of the power system within the country.

Earlier this year in **April**, Singh admitted that there have been cyber attacks on the [national power](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/34091/the-national-power-training-institute-npti-is-located-in-which-city) grid.

He had mentioned that '**in December, January and February there were inquiring attacks. They didn't succeed in those. However we have been aware**.'

As per the reports which were issued earlier this year, the [hackers](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1926/hackers-stolen-100-million-worth-of-nfts-in-previous-year-research-firm-elliptic-says) had targeted seven [Indian state](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/35754/in-which-indian-state-did-the-game-of-polo-originate) centres which were [responsible](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94149/who-is-one-of-the-responsible-person-for-the-department-of-space-dos) for carrying out electrical dispatch and grid control close to a border area.
