The **Tesla** and **SpaceX CEO** had made the comment in order to respond to other of his tweets, about his support for both of the **[United States](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2228/the-united-states-claims-seagate-broke-export-laws-by-selling-huawei-hard-drives)'** [two major](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/34821/today-in-the-united-states-government-there-are-two-major-political-parties-the-republicans-are-one-of-the-parties-who-is-the-other-party) [political parties](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/story/4542/5-political-parties-in-india).

Musk has been entangled within a lawsuit over his bid to buy Twitter, due to which he was later asked on the platform if he was serious about owning Manchester United.

After Musk’s tweet gained nearly **500,000** “**likes**” in an hour, he had replied that '**No, this was a long-running joke on Twitter. I am not going to purchase any sports teams**.' Later he tweeted again stating '**Although, if it were any team, it might be Man U. They were my favorite team as a child**.'

No immediate reaction came from United or its owners on Musk’s tweets.

Shares of the team which was listed on the **New York [Stock Exchange](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/story/3605/sebi-planning-to-introduce-same-day-settlement-on-stock-exchange)** were down year to date, but on **Tuesday** it ended flat, with a market capitalization of **$2.1 billion**.

Well, despite referring it as a joke, Musk's tweet may land him in some kind of trouble with [US regulators](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1874/the-investigations-on-the-death-of-amazon-workers-in-new-jersey-took-place-by-us-regulators).
