# For Commercial Remote Sensing China had Launched 16 New Satellites into the Orbit

On **Wednesday**, **China** had launched sixteen new [satellites](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1841/isro-mentioned-that-after-deviation-the-satellites-were-no-longer-usable) into space from the **Taiyuan [Satellite Launch](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/114603/name-the-rocket-used-in-isro-s-first-successful-satellite-launch) Center** within the country's **Shanxi province**.

The satellites are as follows: **Jilin 1 Gaofen 03D09 satellite** and **Yunyao 1 04-08** which were launched by the **Long March 6** carrier rocket at **12:50 pm** in **China** **(12:20am IST)** and successfully entered the planned orbit.

According to the media reports, the new batch of satellites were utilized in the fields like commercial [remote sensing](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94058/what-is-a-remote-sensing-satellite) and atmospheric imaging.

During the early hours of **July 16**, [China](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1807/the-re-entry-of-china-s-space-rocket-junk-would-hit-the-earth-by-31st-july) had launched the **Long March-2C** carrier rocket in order to put [two satellites](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/86150/amazon-is-about-to-launch-it-s-first-two-satellites-in-a-race-with-spacex) in space. The two satellites which were placed in the space were - **Siwei 03 and 04**, which were lifted from the **Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center** in the northern province of **Shanxi**.

China had eventually launched **Wentian**, the first lab module of its space station.

Well, the new module would operate both as a backup of the core module and as a strong scientific experiment platform.

Last year, China's **Shenzhou-13 mission** was a significant step for the country's young space programme, that was rapidly becoming [one of the world](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/34642/which-indian-it-company-has-been-recognized-as-one-of-the-world-s-best-employers-by-the-top-employer-institute-for-the-third-consecutive-year)'s most advanced.

As per media, China's space programme was established in the early **1970s**, years later when the American astronaut **[Neil Armstrong](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/101749/who-is-neil-armstrong-and-what-did-he-do-for-space-exploration)** had already landed on the [moon](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1224/china-s-chang-e-5-lunar-lander-discovers-water-on-the-moon-for-the-1st-time).

Aided by the economic reforms of the **1980s**, China's space programme was progressed till the launch of the first crewed mission in **2003** took place. Since, the Chinese have invested with billions of dollars into the space programme and even the payoff has been evident.

China had [successfully landed](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/114804/which-nasa-program-successfully-landed-the-first-humans-on-the-moon-s-surface) an exploratory rover on the moon in **December** **2020** and one on **Mars** in the month of **May** in **2021**.
