# ISRO mentioned that after Deviation the Satellites were No Longer Usable

The **Indian Space [Research Organisation](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/38477/name-the-navigational-satellite-launched-by-the-indian-space-research-organisation-isro-from-sriharikota-spaceport-in-andhra-pradesh) (ISRO)** on **Sunday** had mentioned that the satellites onboard its maiden **Small [Satellite Launch](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/114603/name-the-rocket-used-in-isro-s-first-successful-satellite-launch) Vehicle** '**were no longer usable**' once the **SSLV-D1** had placed them in an elliptical [orbit](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1712/7-us-defense-department-satellites-have-launched-by-virgin-orbit-rocket) rather than placing it in a circular one. The [space agency](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1401/european-space-agency-shows-stunning-mars-images-with-mounds-ripples-tracks) had mentioned that the committee would analyze and build recommendations into today's episode and with the [implementation](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/33764/how-to-implementation-of-class-in-c-sharp) of these recommendations '**ISRO would return back soon with SSLV-D2**.'

```
HIGHLIGHTS
As per ISRO the satellites on its maiden SSLV mission 'were no longer usable'
According to space agency, ISRO would return back soon with SSLV-D2
After performing in all stages the SSLV suffered 'data loss' in its terminal stage
```

As per [ISRO](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1705/pslv-c53-with-3-singapore-satellites-got-launched-by-isro-from-singapore-onboard) on its official **Twitter** handle, '**SSLV-D1 had placed the satellites into 356 km x 76 km elliptical orbit rather than 356 km circular orbit. Satellites were not usable anymore and thus the issue was reasonably identified. Failure of the logic to spot a sensor failure and opt for a salvage action had caused the deviation**.'

It has added a detailed statement by **[ISRO Chairman](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/38442/name-the-former-isro-chairman-who-became-the-first-indian-to-be-given-the-hall-of-fame-award-by-the-international-astronautical-federation-iaf) S Somanath** that it would be '**uploaded soon**.'

Well, in its maiden SSLV mission, the [launch vehicle](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/97969/kslv-ii-nuri-rocket-is-the-first-domestically-produced-space-launch-vehicle-of-which-country) had carried **The Earth Observation Satellite EOS-02** along with the co-passenger student [satellites](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1824/elon-musk-has-been-launching-thousands-of-satellites-what-can-be-the-reason-to-his-starlink-launch) **AzaadiSAT**.

However, SSLV had suffered '**data loss**' in its terminal stage, once it has performed '**as expected**' in all stages.
