# After Blocking the PayPal services, Indonesia opened Temporary Access to It

**Indonesia** has temporarily opened the access to [online payment](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39250/which-online-payment-service-provider-has-partnered-with-indian-oil-corporation-limited-iocl-for-deployment-of-pos-terminals) firm **PayPal** to permit users to access their money, a senior official has mentioned on **Sunday**, when the country had blocked some [online services](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/36616/how-effective-is-advertising-on-offline-conferences-specifically-for-online-services) and games which got sparked an outcry.

The **Indonesian Communication Ministry** on **Saturday** blocked [PayPal](https://www.mindstick.com/news/390/paypal-allowing-bitcoin-cryptocurrencies), [search engine](https://www.mindstick.com/services/search-engine-optimization) web site **Yahoo**, and a number of other gaming services because of failures to meet a deadline under licensing rules.

Registration is needed under rules released in late **November 2020** and it would offer authorities broad powers to compel platforms to disclose data of some users and would take down the content which deemed unlawful or that would '**disturb public order**'.

**Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan**, a senior official at Indonesia's [Communications](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/44489/leased-lines-and-other-tools-for-business-communications) Ministry, has mentioned an online briefing on **Sunday** the government opening access to PayPal for five working days. He even mentioned that “**Hopefully that would be enough for users to migrate, get their money and then find other services too**” adding to that there had been no [communication](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1505/ministry-of-communications-and-multimedia-support-the-adoption-of-cryptocurrency-in-malaysia) yet from PayPal.

On **Saturday**, thousands of comments had been criticising the government's blockade of unregistered digital services flooded an **Instagram** post by the Communication Ministry.

Many messages had notified that the government's move was hurting Indonesia's online [gaming industry](https://www.mindstick.com/news/948/how-ai-influenced-gaming-industry) and freelance employees who would use PayPal.

Authorities would unblock the websites if they comply with the registration rules, **Semuel** has especially mentioned that defending the measures as protection for [Indonesian](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1533/indonesia-will-impose-vat-income-tax-on-crypto-assets-from-may) [internet users](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/34142/which-online-security-campaign-has-been-launched-by-google-india-to-safeguard-internet-users) and the digital ecosystem.

Therefore, he added that operators of different affected gaming services which would include **Steam**, **Dota** and **Counter-Strike** have been in communication with the government.
