# Instagram roll out an update to make it easier to find nearby businesses

[Meta owned photo-sharing app, Instagram](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1665/instagram-possessor-meta-is-introducing-new-parental-control-in-the-uk) has roll out a [latest update](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/156098/what-is-the-latest-update-in-seo) which aims to make it easier for users to search out nearby businesses which are local or by adding a searchable map which eventually allows people to “**discover standard [local businesses](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/113173/what-are-the-benefits-of-schools-partnering-with-local-businesses) nearby**. ” The users were made aware of this update by an Instagram Story from [Mark Zuckerberg](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1377/meta-ceo-mark-zuckerberg-urged-by-religious-leaders-to-scrap-instagram-kids-plans). After an update, the map would show it's users a list of places which are nearby and would let its users to take a look at the posts about a particular place or particular kinds of business would be visible to them.

Well, there are couple of ways through which one could get to the map. First one, if someone tags a particular place in their post or story then the users can directly tap on the tag and could hit on the '**see location**' tab in order to get to the location's page. Second, if an individual move around the map, then that person would be able to search the area to take a look at what is actually nearby.

People can even look for places in the **Explore tab**. Well, by tapping on a place **search result** it would take the users directly on the map.

After searching about an area, people could use the filters to narrow down the [search results](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/160077/what-is-the-purpose-of-the-sql-where-clause-and-how-is-it-used-to-filter-search-results) which would allow the users to see restaurants, bars, parks, or other types of places. People could also save the locations if an individual want to check out on them later. ( The users could access the saved places by going through one's profile, then tapping on the hamburger menu which is placed in the top right and at last tapping on the Saved option.)

Last year, it was noticed that the company had already started testing the [updated map](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1759/fuel-efficient-routes-for-ev-and-others-soon-going-to-be-offered-by-google-maps) in many countries, however through Zuckerberg’s Story on Tuesday, this update is currently available.

Well, [Instagram](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1362/instagram-s-take-a-break-feature-is-now-available-in-all-countries-includes-india) has been adding many [e-commerce features](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1687/instagram-launches-new-features-for-age-verification-of-the-users) to its app in recent months, and the map feature seems like another move to form the platform more friendly for the businesses.
