# Approval by the US for SpaceX's Starlink internet service for moving vehicles

The US **Federal Communications Commission (FCC)** on Thursday approved Elon Musk's [SpaceX's](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1663/spacex-s-starship-said-to-face-hinder-in-originating-nasa) ideas to provide their **Starlink** [internet service](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/12030/netgear-extender-internet-service-phone-number) to moving vehicles within the US. It can, therefore, facilitate the company's plan to expand the broadband service to commercial airliners, shipping containers, and trucks.

Starlink's fast-growing constellation of internet-booming [satellites in orbit](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/102258/how-do-space-agencies-track-and-control-satellites-in-orbit) has aimed to provide [internet connectivity](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/102425/what-role-does-a-network-router-play-in-internet-connectivity) in rural areas which have no traditional access to it and restricted resources or demand to form that access. The idea is to grow a customer base from individual broadband users in such locations to enterprise customers in the potentially lucrative automotive, shipping and airline sectors. It was in the [news](https://www.mindstick.com/developersection/news) during the earlier days of this year when [Founder Elon Musk](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1664/elon-musk-will-address-twitter-inc-employees-this-week-for-the-very-first-time) offered services to [Ukrainian](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1651/ukrainian-officials-phones-hacked-amid-russian-invasion-says-cybersecurity-expert) citizens in the aftermath of the [Russian invasion](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/83037/russian-invasion-of-ukraine-would-reverberate-around-the-world).

As reported by Reuters, the FCC has approved SpaceX's plan to produce high-speed internet connectivity to provide to those people who are traveling on moving vehicles in remote areas.

In its statement approving the request, the FCC has said, '**Authorising a new class of terminals for SpaceX's satellite system will expand the range of broadband capabilities to meet growing user demands that now require connectivity while on the move.**'

SpaceX has steadily launched over 2,700 [Starlink satellites](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/86744/elon-musk-launch-its-first-direct-to-cell-starlink-satellites) into low-Earth orbit since 2019 for this project. Over the years, hundreds to thousands of subscribers were amassed with it. It was possible at a worth purpose $599 for the terminal installation kits and $110 a month for access.

**Jonathan Hofeller**, the Starlink's commercial sales chief, mentioned at an aviation conference earlier this month that they are obsessive about the passenger experience. '**We're going to be on airplanes here very shortly as hopefully, the passengers are likely to get vowed by the experience**,' he added in the conference.
