The discovery and study is focusing on a general mechanism through which psychedelics may be acting therapeutically on the brain to reduce depression and possibly other psychiatric conditions that are made by the fixed conditions of overthinking. The scientist has researched people more than 60 who had participated in two psilocybin trials. In the first trial, all the participants go through the test and showed some positive results as they also knew that they were going through psilocybin. In other conditions in which participants were attacked by depression but they were not as severe as in the first case. A senior author of the study said “In previous studies, we had seen a similar effect in the brain when people were scanned whilst on a psychedelic, but here we’re seeing it weeks after treatment for depression, which suggests a carry-over of the acute drug action,” **Robin Carhart-Harris,** who directs the **Neuroscape Psychedelics Division** at UCSF said.
