# Mars looks more seismically active than before thought, said researchers

**Mars** is more **seismically active** than previously thought by scientist, [Researchers](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2200/newly-identified-protein-by-researchers-at-the-university-of-arizona-might-save-lives) says after observing the changes in Mars. Researchers also said their study could throw some light on the reason why the **Red Planet has no [magnetic field](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1622/astronomers-made-a-discovery-of-a-supermassive-black-hole-with-a-flipped-magnetic-field).**

## Highlights

```
The magnetic field of Mars is present only in patches
It is different than the case of earth
Earths’ magnetic field covers the whole earth in its force
As per the researchers, Mars is looking more seismically active than they thought before. Scientists have found that there is some movements like Mars Quakes could be easily seen. It is believed that such volcanic [activity](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/12894/how-to-force-recreation-of-activity-fragment-on-restore) is just because of the [movement](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/81374/black-lives-matter-movement-hijacked-by-american-leftist-hippies) of volcanic activity below the dust.
Marsquakes are more similar to earthquakes. [Till now](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/40087/which-is-the-best-indian-tv-serial-till-now) a total of **47 quakes** have been detected so far beneath the **Martian Crust** in a specific region. The region of Mars is called **Cerberus Fossae** and its distance of it is **20 million years old.** This study is acting as a surprising [discovery](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/34385/understanding-the-discovery-phase-in-software-development-part-1) and it was also assumed that nothing much was happening inside Mars hence it has a weak magnetic field.
The scientist and geophysicist said “The Marsquakes indirectly help us understand whether the [convention](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/145551/what-is-naming-convention-and-its-types) is occurring inside of the planet’s interior and if this convention is happening, which looks like it is based on our findings in the Nature [Communication](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/126321/5-fails-and-fixes-of-the-office-communication) Journal,” said the study Co-author **Hrvoje Tkalcic**.
Earlier scientists were assumed the Marsquakes were caused by the movement of tectonic plates and their force but the current findings, suggest that magma in the Martian mantle is still active. As per the scientist, the fact that all the quakes were detected in the same area suggests the planet Mars is more seismically active than the scientist was thought before.
