The founder of ‘Bridgewater Associates’ the world's largest Hedger fund Ray Dalio, has appraised the investors in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and said that the government, at the [Global level](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/100947/what-are-the-challenges-in-addressing-cybersecurity-threats-at-a-global-level) could boycott them and can make them outlaw the currency.

He also added that this is a type of unregulated and decentralized [digital currency](https://www.mindstick.com/news/1151/binance-turkey-unit-slapped-with-try-8-million-for-violations-of-digital-currency-laws). The current price of Bitcoin in the [international market](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/303858/how-rank-your-business-quickly-in-local-national-international-market) is about $46,900 that is about the 34 [Lakh Rupees](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/94477/i-want-to-buy-a-new-suv-car-with-a-budget-of-16-lakh-rupees-which-car-should-i-buy) in India.

The reason behind taking the step back from his opinion was the chances of [challenges](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/325216/challenges-faced-by-technologists-while-performing-the-cloud-migration-process) that could face in the form of an alternate currency and the fear could be faced by the banks of the world.

Dalio has also said as “In History, they have outlawed Gold and Outlawed silver, and so on and hence they could also ban the Bitcoin. Every government wants to have a monopoly on its currency. The above-quoted statement is shown on the site of Bitcoin.com

In May, he also said that the government has a plan to strict the [rules and regulations](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/37865/which-act-is-associated-with-courts-can-interpret-the-rules-and-regulations) for functioning in the cryptocurrency. And hence the government can also restrict the use and can ban Bitcoin as well.
