# Difference between CTE vs TEMP TABLE.

### CTE (Common Table Expression)

- A **temporary result set** defined within a query
- Exists **only during query execution**
- Not stored physically
- Used for **readability, recursion, and complex queries**

## Example:

```plaintext
WITH CTE_Employees AS (
    SELECT Id, Name FROM Employees WHERE Salary > 50000
)
SELECT * FROM CTE_Employees;
```

### TEMP TABLE

- A **physical temporary table** stored in `tempdb`
- Exists for the **session or until dropped**
- Can be indexed, updated, reused multiple times
- Used for **large data processing and multiple operations**

CREATE TABLE #TempEmployees (
    Id INT,
    Name VARCHAR(100)
);

INSERT INTO #TempEmployees
SELECT Id, Name FROM Employees;
