# What is the use of cardspace?

**CardSpace** provide a general identification system which used by desktop applications, web sites, and more.CardSpace provides users with the ability to manage their digital identities, and with Explorer, Web can request a identity from the user. The following exercises demonstrate the steps to accept identities using CardSpace and Explorer.

- Hello, World!.
- Activate the Identity Selector on demand.
- Accessing the claims in the security token
- Uniquely identifying the user\
