# How to rename table in SQL Server?

Hi Mindstickians!\
I'm working with [SQL Server](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12999/what-is-table-valued-function-in-sql-server) and i'm new in [database](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12226/use-of-database-in-sencha-extjs-and-insert-record-from-user-form-using-ajax). I have created few [tables](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/336597/introduction-of-html-tables-for-web-development) in database not a proper [naming convention](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12270/c-sharp-coding-standard-and-naming-convention). [Now](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/81402/it-s-liberals-vs-progressives-in-us-politics-now), I want to [rename](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/23303/how-to-rename-extention-of-mdf-file) those [table](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/43918/how-to-design-table-using-bootstrap) with proper naming convention. \
Your help is greatly appreciated.\

Hi Ezra!Try as following**Syntax:**sp_rename 'Your table name' 'New table name'**Example:**sp_rename 'MyTable', 'empTable'sp_rename this is in-build stored procedure
