# Something happened while creating a switch -Windows Phone 8 emulator error

The [Windows](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/311752/how-to-install-and-use-the-google-wifi-software-on-a-windows-or-mac-computer) Phone Emulator wasn't able to create the [virtual machine](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/157900/what-is-a-virtual-machine-and-how-does-it-work): Something happened [while creating](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/105382/which-constraints-we-can-use-while-creating-a-database-in-sql) a switch: Xde couldn't find an IPv4 address for the host machine.\
I have SLAT compatible [hardware](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/303100/best-pc-hardware-2023), virtualization is enabled in BIOS, my Windows 8 [installation](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/711/php-installation-on-windows) is 64bit and it's not virtualized. Hyper-V is installed (tried reinstalling it, but it didn't help). EDIT: VirtualBox or any other virtualization [software](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/311636/best-freelancing-websites-to-get-software-development-services) ([except](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/144/union-intersection-and-except-operator-in-sql-server) for Hyper-V) is not installed\
EDIT2: Seem to have been some other [networking](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/126171/4-ways-to-improve-your-business-networking-skills) software which was installed. Having to [remove](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/story/4554/8-harmful-weeds-to-remove-from-garden) it sucks big time because I need it professionally. I hope they fix it.\

Open the Hyper-V Manager from the start menu, and open the [Virtual](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/81341/the-oh-so-fight-for-democracy-virtual-rally-scenes) Switch Manager. Remove any existing switches, and try make a new virtual switch with a connection type set to internal.

You might need to run **XdeCleanup.exe** afterwards.
