# Android Emulator speed Issue - Dead slow

Why is the [Android](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/13046/10-reasons-why-i-prefer-android-vs-iphone-ios) emulator is very [slow](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/50237/sometimes-the-web-browser-stops-responding-or-becomes-slow-and-will-show-you-the-message-that-the-web-browser-was-crashed-what-can-be-the-risks)? IS there any way to [speed up](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/156531/how-to-speed-up-the-website-with-my-javascript-code-in-the-server) emulator. I am using ecllipse [IDE](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/23226/what-ide-to-use-for-python)

It is not a problem with your environment; it is just that the old emulator from Eclipse is very slow.\
Practically, I use a real phone to do my tests. It is faster and tests are more realistic. But if you want to test your application on a lot of different Android versions and don't want to buy several phones, you will have to use the emulator from time to time.\
UPDATE: The Android SDK now allows to use an x86-based Android emulator. See http://developer.android.com/tools/devices/emulator.html#accel-vm \
\
Use Android Studio : The emulator is fast\
