# When Claude stops mid-answer, does Continue pick up where it left off?

Every so often Claude stops partway through a long answer and shows a Continue button. When I click it, should I expect it to carry on from the exact point it stopped, or can it rework the unfinished answer and repeat some of it?

I’m trying to figure out whether this is just a response-length limit or whether something else is interrupting the reply. If you’ve found a reliable way to get a complete long response without losing its structure, I’d be interested to hear what works.
