# Can the creator of a custom GPT read my conversations with it?

I’m thinking about using a [custom GPT](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/162450/what-happens-to-a-custom-gpt-when-its-creator-leaves-a-chatgpt-workspace) made by someone else, but I’m not clear on what the creator can see afterward.

Can a GPT creator view the actual prompts and replies from individual users, or do they only get general usage information? I’m especially interested in the difference between creator visibility and the data OpenAI may handle under its own policies.

If you’ve built or used custom GPTs, what does the privacy boundary look like in practice?
